Don't Forsake God

Help for renewed hope ...
1

The picture that comes to mind is of me being a mom, walking in a park and holding my toddler boy 😁 who is finding every means to wriggle his way out of my hands in ignorance. But who is stronger? I’d believe me, but sometimes we’re cut unaware by the strength present in a persistent suckling until they let go and fall off your hands to the ground 😂

Hello, and welcome to another episode of Hope Alive newsletter and podcast. How are you doing for real? Keeping up with life and purpose is a good response, and it’s OK if you don’t feel all that great, too.

So, today’s message is about not letting go of God. By the way, I don’t have a toddler yet😉

A famous Bible verse says God will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), but the question is, can we forsake Him? Humans are fragile, especially amid trials, so there’s a tendency to let go of God’s hand.

God is faithful even if we lack faith, because He cannot deny Himself.

2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭

“If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself.”

But in turbulent times, will we stick to God or give up and then turn our backs on Him? We can and should humble ourselves before God and not leave Him when the trials and storms of life come howling at us.

God’s love is unconditional. Sometimes, I wonder, and it’s hard to comprehend why God cares about and loves me so much. But humility is when we know we’re undeserving, yet we stick close to God rather than walk away. Humility is when we still go to God in prayers to tell Him about our weaknesses.

Walking away says a lot. It means we’re capable of redeeming ourselves and unworthy to be loved by God. Even if the latter seems true, can we love ourselves better?

Our actions and mindset of unbelief can make us let go of God without knowing. In the end, we lose out on the salvation of God.

God will forever hold our hands, except we choose to let go.

Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭2‬ ‭

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.

Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭13‬ ‭

For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!

This is so sweet and comforting. God holding our hands shows how reliable and dependable He is. Even if the storm is turbulent, His grip is firm enough to stop us from falling. But if we hold His hand, without His grip on us, we’re probably not strong enough to keep holding on during the storms of life.

Except we choose to let go and push God out of the picture, He will always hold us and never forsake us.

2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬ ‭

If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny and disown and reject Him, He will also deny and disown and reject us.

We can unknowingly let go of Him. This is why we need the Holy Spirit's help for renewed hope, strength, and faith. The Bible says that hope does not make us ashamed. Without hope, everything loses meaning, and we no longer see the reason to believe.

Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬

[Therefore beware] brethren, take care, lest there be in any one of you a wicked, unbelieving heart [which refuses to cleave to, trust in, and rely on Him], leading you to turn away and desert or stand aloof from the living God.

Lamentations 3:26

It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.

Praying for renewed hope and strengthened faith is important, and God is always ready to answer our prayers.

As you go into this week, what mindset will you carry? One filled with hope or one willing to let go of everything?

PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for I know You will always be with me. Give me renewed hope and faith to always trust You. Amen.

P.S-- Unless otherwise stated, All scriptures are from the Amplified Bible Classic version.
